Lutron Creates New Lighting Control Demos for Online Audience

Lutron has recently created some neat online demos of how lighting control can function in a particular room. I’ve always been a proponent of bringing the content experience online for easier distribution and discovery, and Lutron has done a good job recently. These demos aren’t just novel little demonstrations, they can actually be useful for integrators and lighting control salespeople as a quick, effective reference tool to explain the benefits of lighting control.

The most effective demo, I feel, is the Kitchen demo. Below you can see a few frames of the demo. This gallery doesn’t do the smooth animation justice, so I recommend checking it out here

The user can virtually push the buttons on a standard keypad and watch the resulting lighting changes in the room. Lutron also includes technical specifications regarding the changes, for the more technically minded user.

In addition to the Kitchen demo, they also have an Energy Savings demo here. The Energy Savings demo is more familiar to most Lutron professionals, but it remains the simplest way to explain the energy savings benefit to an end-user.

And finally, Lutron also created a slightly less intuitive demo for a classroom environment. You can check it out here. It presents the timeline of a typical day at school as a linear scroll at the bottom. Clicking on various times of the day bring up benefits and features relevant to that time of the day. This is less intuitive, but it does underline the fact that lighting control is a good strategy for standardizing repetitive, daily energy usage.
